Cross-country skiing: a magnificent battle between Richard Jouve and Jules Chappaz in Les Saisies
To round off the long first day of the French Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing Championships in Les Saisies (Savoie), Richard Jouve and Jules Chappaz put on a sublime show for the public. In the sprint skating final, the two cross-country skiers , who shone earlier in the week at the Lucerne 2025 World Military Games, fought out a great battle.
In the final, the Haut-Alpin first accelerated sharply to open up a gap, but Le Cluse responded. In the final straight, Jules Chappaz caught up with Richard Jouve… but was unable to catch him. So it was the former winner of the small globe in the sprint who took the gold medal.

Bronze went to Rémi Bourdin, while Victor Cullet Calderini, crowned U23 champion, Gaspard Rousset and Ivan Essonnier, who won silver in the U23 final, rounded off the final rankings. Luc Primet, seventh after being eliminated in the semi-finals, took the U23 bronze medal.
