Cross-country skiing: a surprise winner in the first qualifier of the season
Early on Wednesday afternoon, the French cross-country skiing cup in Bessans (Savoie) included the qualifying round of the men’s sprint skate. On the Savoyard circuit, there was a big surprise in the shape of Anaël Lecerf of CS Méribel. With a time of 2 min 11 sec 61, he beat the experienced Gaspard Rousset and Arnaud Chautemps.
Julien Arnaud was close behind, followed by Ivan Essonnier, Mathieu Blanc, Mattéo Correia, Félix Caillot, Sabin Coupat, Victor Cullet and Lucas Gaillard. Outside the top 10 are Luc Primet, twelfth, Simon Chappaz, thirteenth, Victor Lovera, sixteenth, Charly Deuffic, seventeenth, Milhan Laissus, eighteenth, and Clément Parisse, twenty-third.
In the U20 category, it was Adrien Marchand of SC Peisey-Vallandry who set the fastest time in the heat, just ahead of Isaïe Taxil from the Franche-Comté region and Johan Calandry from Annécien. Finally, in the U18 category, victory went to Joachim Bunod, who was faster than Gaspard Cottaz and Paul Rousset Vachon.
