Cross-country skiing: the Swedes launch their season at Bruksvallarna
A week after the biathletes in Idre Fjäll (Sweden), the Swedish cross-country skiers also kick off their winter season this Friday with the Swedish opening races at Bruksvallarna (Sweden). But some members of the national team are not expected to be at the start of these Scandinavian races.

This is particularly true of William Poromaa, who has been ill for the last few days, as he revealed on the Expressen daily’s Skidsnack programme: “I had the misfortune to catch a cold. So I had to rest for a few days, which was a bit frustrating,” he says.
However, the Swede is already back in training. A rapid recovery that could still give him the chance to take part in one of the weekend’s competitions: “I haven’t completely closed the door on taking part, but the important thing is to be 100% fresh for Ruka the following weekend. In my head, I’m prepared not to race at Bruksvallarna”, he confides.

On the other hand, Frida Karlsson may well be able to take part in the first stages of the cross-country skiing world cup in Sweden, although she had been considering not doing so for a while: “I hope I’ll be on the start line this weekend,” she announced in a video posted on Instagram by the organisers on Tuesday. The 25-year-old cross-country skier is currently on the start lists for the individual classic on Saturday.
