This weekend, the Swedish national cross-country skiing team kicks off its summer preparations on the snow at Riksgränsen, Sweden. And while William Poromaa and Jonna Sundling will be present at this first training camp of the Olympic season, some members of the Scandinavian team will not be taking part.
The star of the Swedish group, Frida Karlsson, will not be making the trip. The outgoing 50km world champion is still recovering from a foot injury: “If there’s the slightest doubt about each athlete’s ability, it’s better to stay at home and not take any risks. We don’t really know if she can cope with a whole week on the snow,” explained women’s coach Stefan Thomson toExpressen.

But the 25-year-old cross-country skier won’t be the only one absent. Her team-mates Linn Svahn, who suffered a concussion in February, and Moa Ilar, who underwent foot surgery at the end of the winter, will also be absent from the slopes at Riksgränsen. On the men’s side, Maans Skoglund and Truls Gisselman will also be absent.
