Cross-country skiing: the Junior and U23 World Championships start on Monday
February is often synonymous with the world championships in many Nordic disciplines. Cross-country skiing is no exception, as before the senior championships in Trondheim (Norway) from 26 February, the young cross-country skiers in the junior and U23 categories have a date in Schilpario (Italy) from Monday.

On the Italian slopes, the juniors will be the first to compete in a classic sprint on 3 February. The U23s will be competing for medals the following day in the same event. Last year, Gaspard Rousset finished fourth in this competition in Planica (Slovenia).
This will be followed by the classic mass-starts on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 5 February. Last winter, in skateboarding, Maëlle Veyre won a fine bronze medal, while Mathis Desloges excelled in the men’s event to claim the world title. Individual 10-kilometre skate races will follow on 7 and 8 February.
Finally, on Sunday, the event closes with the traditional mixed relays in which France finished in silver in 2024 in the U23 category.
