Although she was not selected for the start of the World Cup, Norwegian cross-country skier Helene Marie Fossesholm made her return to competition on Friday in the individual skate event at the Norwegian Cup in Gålå (Norway). After injuring her knee in a football match this autumn, she was back to her best, winning in 24 min 17 sec 5. Johanne Hauge Harviken and Magni Smedaas were on the podium.
Later in the day, biathlete Einar Hedegart caused a sensation in the men’s race. Two weeks after failing to qualify for the IBU Cup, the man with two biathlon World Cup starts to his name put in a full race. After less than 22 minutes of effort, he beat Even Solem Michelsen and Mattis Stenshagen by less than 10 seconds to win.
