The first stage of the Norwegian cross-country skiing cup drew to a close on Sunday with the women’s and men’s individual classic races. In Gålå (Norway), it was the women who opened the start gate in the morning.
Johanne Hauge Harviken put everyone in agreement in this 10-kilometre event. Solid right up to the final straight, the Norwegian took a fine victory ahead of Helene Marie Fossesholm, who had already won on Friday, by a margin of almost 10 seconds. Anna Heggen rounded off the top 3, more than 20 seconds behind the winner.
In the men’s race, it was Haavard Moseby who came out on top. Stronger than Eirik Mysen and Edvard Sandvik with a lead of more than 10 seconds, the Scandinavian brought this first weekend of competitions to an ideal close. It was a disappointment, however, for athletes like Iver Tildheim Andersen, who finished only twelfth.
