The battle raged in the Scandinavian forests of Gåsbu (Norway) late on Saturday morning. And, at the end of a breathless suspense, it was Harald Oestberg Amundsen who managed to claim the title of Norwegian skiathlon champion. A race in which the outgoing world number one worked hard.

With the whole peloton keeping a close eye on him, the Scandinavian made the most of his sprinting skills to take the lead from his compatriots Mathias Holbæk and the surprising Thomas Linnebo Mollestad . It was a tight race right to the end, with the top ten finishers just 10 seconds apart.
