Cross-country skiing: snowfarming centres open en masse on the first day of November
On this first day of November, the snowfarming cross-country ski trails are opening their doors in droves. In Norway, the resorts of Geilo (Norway), where the French biathletes are expected to take part in a training camp starting on Tuesday, and Sjusjøen (Norway) are providing a 2.5km loop.
Beitostølen (Norway) is also opening its first piste of the winter this Saturday, a 5km run, as is Muonio (Finland). In continental Europe, Davos (Switzerland), Oberstdorf (Germany) and Santa Caterina (Italy) opened their snowfarms on Friday, as did Trysil (Norway).
In recent weeks, pistes have opened at Vuokatti (Finland), Idre Fjäll (Sweden), Kontiolahti (Finland), Ruka (Finland), Levi (Finland), Bruksvallarna (Sweden) and Livigno (Italy). In France, Bessans (Savoie) opens its Nordic area this Sunday, before Les Saisies (Savoie) on 11 November.
