Cross-country skiing : Gérard Agnellet and biathlete Camille Coupé go it alone
Sunday was the second day of the 47th Marathon de Bessans (Savoie). After the classic style events on Saturday, it was time for skating, in milder conditions than the previous day in Haute Maurienne.

In the 42-kilometre showpiece event, which is part of the Marathon Ski Tour circuit, it was the experienced Cluse racer Gérard Agnellet (Haute-Savoie Nordic Team) who won solo after 1 hour, 43 minutes and 54 seconds of effort. I really enjoyed myself,” smiled Gérard Agnellet. It was the Bessans Marathon that I liked best.

He was more than a minute and a half ahead of Team Vercors Isère‘s Aubin Gaulier. The podium was completed by Mattis Basile, a member of Team Nordic Expérience, Coste – Fromageries Marcel Petite, more than two minutes behind. Defending champion Hugo Dejour did not start due to illness.

In the women’s race, biathlete Camille Coupé went it alone. Already in the lead at the halfway stage, she completed the race in 2 hours, 3 minutes and 16 seconds, more than three minutes ahead of her nearest rival, Alice Bourdin(Team Nordic Expérience, Coste – Fromageries Marcel Petite). The podium was completed by Haute-Savoie Nordic Team cross-country skier France Pignot, nearly four minutes behind.

“I don’t have much experience of long distances, but I’m feeling fit. I really enjoyed this race,” said Camille Coupé at the finish. Last year, I broke my leg and didn’t do any sport for six months. I fought hard to come back and experience days like today.

In the weekend’s big innovation, the 60-kilometre event, it was Thibaut Baronian who won solo after 2 hours, 52 minutes and 47 seconds of racing. He finished ahead of Antonin Schoeffel and Pierre Belingheri. In the women’s race, Ingrid Terrier won after more than 3 hours 25 minutes. Hélène Rahon was second ahead of Emilie Launey in third.

In the 23-kilometre race, Romain Mathieu from Savoie won the sprint ahead of Vosges duo Noah Carru Vedrenne and Maxence Nilly. In the women’s race, Montblanc’s Manon Favre Bonvin (Haute-Savoie Nordic Team) took victory ahead of Prémanonière’s Gaëtane Breniaux in the final. The podium was completed by another Haute-Savoie Nordic Team cross-country skier, Chloé Missillier.

In the 10-kilometre race, Silvio Sasso from Savoie won solo ahead of Florent Chiappa and Victor Bourdot from Dauphiné. In the women’s race, young Haute-Savoie Nordic Team cross-country skier Guillemette Baisle also won solo, ahead of Chloé Orvain and Clémence Coutaz.
