10:22. This Saturday morning, the women cross-country skiers at the World Cup in Goms (Switzerland) had a date with the classic sprint qualifier. On the demanding Swiss track, this was the last test of this format before the Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina.

Justine Gaillard put in a superb performance, finishing 22nd in the qualifying heats. In doing so, she secured her first-ever ticket to the finals of a World Cup sprint. The other French girls, Mélissa Gal (39th), Léna Quintin (42nd), Clémence Didierlaurent (49th), Margot Tirloy (51st) and Julie Pierrel (52nd), did not make the cut.

Sweden’s Linn Svahn proved to be the fastest, with impressive time gaps – qualifying was decided by more than fifteen seconds – ahead of Nadine Faehndrich from Switzerland and Jasmi Joensuu from Finland. She beat Nadine Faehndrich of Switzerland and Jasmi Joensuu of Finland.
