12:54. Friday saw the start of the cross-country skiing World Cup stage in Goms (Switzerland), the last before the Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina. On the track, it was first the women cross-country skiers who had to compete in the sprint skate team qualifier.

The French cross-country skiers did extremely well in the qualifiers, finishing among the top fifteen teams to secure their place in the final. Léonie Perry (15th) and Mélissa Gal (11th) finished seventh in the qualifying round, while Margot Tirloy (18th) and Julie Pierrel (22nd) finished twelfth.

Up front, the second Norwegian team, comprising Karoline Groetting and Tiril Udnes Weng, dominated qualifying. She was ahead of Germany’s Laura Gimmler (fastest scratch time) and Coletta Rydzek, as well as Finland’s Jasmin Kahara and Jasmi Joensuu.
