Cross-country skiing: Haavard Moseby the strongest in the sprint
The Janteloppet took place on Saturday. In its new format outside the Ski Classics circuit, the race organised by Petter Northug Jr took place in Hafjell (Norway). With a prize money of 1 million Norwegian crowns (around 85,000 euros), and around 16,000 euros reserved for the winners, the Janteloppet attracted a large number of cross-country skiers.
During the race, which took place under clear blue skies, fifteen men battled it out for victory in the sprint after the 40-kilometre race. In the final package, it was Norway’s Haavard Moseby who won after 1 h 26 min 36 sec of racing. He beat his compatriots Sivert Wiig and biathlete Einar Hedegart .

The top 10 was completed by Emil Iversen, Martin Loewstroem Nyenget, Martin Kirkeberg Moerk, Kasper Herland, Simon Hjelmeset Kirkeeide, Sivert Leander Johansen and Iver Tildheim Andersen. Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo was 29th, 2 min 56 sec behind the winner.

In the French camp, Simon Chappaz was the best Frenchman. Le Cluse took 27th place. Mattéo Correia finished 39th, Tanguy Perrillat-Boiteux 51st, Constant Missillier 56th, Christophe Perrillat 58th and Rémy Martin 59th.

super sad about the woman’s race. But it’s better to have tried and failed then not to have tried. Only 14 women signed up? That’s a bad look, for a sport whose appeal is on the edge globally. It’s the end of the season and people are tired, so the lack of response is understandable to some degree. But this needs to be fixed for next year, when the Olympics are going to have the same gruelling effect on what is a very long season.
