The first stage of the Swedish cross-country skiing cup drew to a close on Sunday on the slopes ofIdre Fjäll (Sweden). The programme included individual skate races over 10 kilometres.

In the women’s race, Elin Henriksson claimed a fine double. Having already won the sprint skate the day before, the Swede confirmed her current fine form. Behind her, junior world champion in the individual classic Evelina Crusell finished second, just 8 seconds behind her compatriot, whileElina Roennlund completed the podium.

In the men’s race, however, it was not a Swede who came out on top. Stronger than his neighbours, Norway’s Oeystein Sendstad dominated the competition head and shoulders. More than 23 seconds behind the winner, locals Karl-Johan Westberg and Jonas Eriksson took second and third place respectively.
