Cross-country skiing : a completely botched change of skis
NorwegianJulie Bjervig Drivenes was hoping this Saturday in Trondheim (Norway) to build on her promising start to the season with victory in Beitostølen (Norway). But during the skiathlon, the 26-year-old cross-country skier suffered a mishap that cost her a lot of time. In sixteenth place before the ski change, the Scandinavian lost more than eighteen seconds and came out of the stadium in twenty-second place.
The explanation: the Norwegian was wearing a new brand of skis and bindings to which she was “not yet accustomed”. At first she thought she had put her boots on correctly, before realising that her foot was not fixed. In the confusion, she lost a pole, set off again, only to discover that she was holding ” a classic pole and a skating pole “. Forced to turn back, she saw the pack take off.

” It ruined everything, really, ” the cross-country skier summed up for NRK. “Surprisingly, I didn’t fall completely. I tried to get back up and get going again straight away”, explained the cross-country skier, who was initially convinced that she would be able to “hang up the groups”. But in the end she finished twenty-eighth, nearly two minutes behind Jessie Diggins.
The Norwegian admits to feeling the pressure of her World Cup place: “I feel the pressure of keeping my place, it’s hard to accept. But now she wants to turn her attention to her speciality, the individual skateboard event scheduled for Sunday: “My best chance is tomorrow. My best chance is tomorrow, so I just need to put it behind me as soon as possible.
