Cross-country skiing : “The equipment was perfect”, says Teresa Stadlober
On Monday, Austria’s Teresa Stadlober took second place in the individual classic in Toblach (Italy), the second stage of the Tour de Ski. In doing so, she equalled her best ever World Cup performance and claimed her fifth podium finish, her first of the winter.

“It was an incredible day for me today and second place is just incredible. I felt part of the race straight away and I knew I was with the best. On the climbs, I was able to give it my all, and the equipment was perfect,” she enthused to Ski Austria.
In her preferred style, the 32-year-old cross-country skier set a good pace from the start. “I was really looking forward to this classic race, and to come so close to victory is sensational. For the first time in my career, albeit briefly, I was in the leader’s seat: a real highlight.

Only eight seconds ahead of Norway’s Astrid Oeyre Slind, the Austrian is now fourth overall in the Tour de Ski, 52 seconds behind Jessie Diggins.
