This Friday, at the end of the skate sprint of the cross-country skiing world cup in Lahti (Finland), two athletes secured the small crystal globe of the speciality. In the evening, Jasmi Joensuu and Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo secured first place in the overall speciality rankings in this last sprint of the winter.
For the Finn, it’s a great first. A regular throughout the season, the 28-year-old cross-country skier fought right to the end to win this prestigious award. By winning, she puts an end to the Swedish hegemony that has lasted since the 2021/2022 season. Behind her were Nadine Faehndrich of Switzerland and Maja Dahlqvist of Sweden.
For his Norwegian counterpart, however, this is far from being his first title. In fact, the world number one has won this trophy for the seventh time in his career. Untouchable in the sprint, the Scandinavian continues to establish his dominance in this discipline every season.
