The Swiss cross-country skiing championships kicked off on Saturday in Jaunpass, Switzerland. The day’s programme included skate sprints in which the local cross-country skiers put up a good fight.

In the women’s race, Alina Meier was the big boss of the day. Rarely troubled, the Swiss woman took a fine victory ahead of her compatriots Fabienne Alder and Noémie Charrière. In the U18s, Nina Cantieni won, whileAnina Hutter was the strongest in the U20s.
In the men’s race, Niclas Steiger claimed a fine victory by beating his team-mates Roman Schaad and Noé Naeff to the line. In the U18s, Jonas Baerfuss was the first to raise his arms, while Isai Naeff was unflappable in the U20s.
