Only twenty-second in the opening skate sprint of the Tour de Ski on Saturday at the cross-country skiing world cup in Toblach (Italy), Johanna Hagstroem did not appear to be in the best of form on her return from the Christmas holidays. And her poor form is no coincidence.

This Sunday morning, a few hours before the mass-start classic, the second event of the tour, the Swede decided not to line up at the start. Johanna has developed mild cold symptoms,” explained Rickard Noberius, the national team doctor, in a press release. We want to avoid the slightest risk and Johanna is going home by interrupting her Tour de Ski today.
It should also be noted that Germany’s Sofie Krehl also withdrew before the day’s race.
