Cross-country skiing: Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo’s film about the 2025 World Championships soon to be released in cinemas
With two weeks to go before the season resumes in Beitostølen (Norway), Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo has decided to come down from Livigno (Italy) earlier than planned. Initially, the Norwegian cross-country skier was due to stay at altitude until 14 November, but the cinema release of the documentary Klæbo has slightly altered his programme.
“I have to be at the premiere of my own film. It’ll be a few days less at altitude, but that’s fine,” smiled the 29-year-old Scandinavian, who has already spent more than fifty days at altitude this summer between Utah and Livigno, in a press release.

Next week promises to be a busy one for the Norwegian skiing idol: red carpet, press conference and screenings in the country’s biggest cinemas. On Wednesday 12 November, the Colosseum Kino in Oslo (Norway) will host the premiere. The following day, Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo will travel to Trondheim (Norway) for a second preview.
Between each event, he intends to maintain his two daily training sessions. “I haven’t forgotten that the season starts soon. I’m focused on the Games, but it’s nice to have another focus for a few days,” he explains.
“We lived very close to Johannes before the Worlds. We hope that the public will feel this closeness”.
Directed by his brother Ola Hoesflot Klæbo, in collaboration with Stian Engh, the film is more personal than a simple sports chronicle. It plunges into a trying season, marked by expectations, media pressure and injuries, with the Trondheim World Championships on the horizon. “It’s not just a film about skiing. It’s a story about family, doubts and inner strength”, he sums up.
For Ola Hoesflot Klæbo, who also penned the music and image, the project represents months of intensive work. “We lived very close to Johannes [Hoesflot Klæbo] before the Worlds. We hope the public will feel that closeness,” he says.

Produced by Antipode Films – which won an Oscar this year for No Other Land – Klæbo aims to show “previously unrevealed facets” of the five-time Olympic champion.
A film interlude before a return to reality: from 21 November, Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo will be on the start line in Beitostølen, to kick off a season in which the objective is, of course, to reach Milan/Cortina 2026.
