Cross-country skiing: Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo’s sister finishes 9th in the women’s race
The race is called the Rampa con i Campioni. It is contested on the same course that World Cup athletes later use to reach the summit ofAlpe Cermis (Italy). On Sunday, four-time Olympic gold medallist and winner of four editions of the Tour de Ski, Dario Cologna, repeated his success of 2023 and won ahead of Petter Northug Jr, in fourth place. In the women’s race, victory went to France’s Emilie Bulle. Emotional at the finish, she made no secret of her delight: “It’s great! I’m really happy, it was great to run this race. The organisation is excellent and I had a great time! She beat Germany’s Sigrid Mutscheller and Laura Stichling.
There weren’t just cross-country skiing stars at the start. Also taking part were two members of Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo‘s family: Haakon and Ane Hoesflot, the Norwegian champion’s father and sister, who were in Italy to accompany the five-time Olympic champion on his Tour de Ski adventure.
For the record, it was the 54-year-old father who did better than his daughter. He crossed the finish line in 40th place. The 21-year-old, who finished 56th overall, still came 9th in the women’s race.
At the finish, they both expressed their satisfaction and… their tiredness. “This climb is terrible, but I’m so proud of my result today! There were quite a few amateurs of a certain age. This challenge is great because it affects everyone,” said Haakon Klæbo. ” From now on, I’ll have even more respect for athletes like my brother who do this climb practically every year! Her brother is a “source of inspiration”, she added: “From the outside, we see the champion who always wins, but we know how much work goes into it. He’s strong physically, but also mentally. I’m really proud of him.
So Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo will be able to enjoy his fourth Tour de Ski trophy with his family, just as much as Dario Cologna.
