Cross-country skiing: a top 10 finish at the World Junior Championships for Gaspard Cottaz
At the world junior cross-country skiing championships in Schilpario (Italy), Lars Heggen is a cut above the rest. After winning silver in the classic sprint on Monday and the title in the classic 20km mass-start on Wednesday, he dominated the individual 10km skate race on Friday morning.

In the lead from the first intermediates, the man who was also crowned world junior free sprint champion in 2024 in Planica (Slovenia) took this new gold medal 26 seconds 7 seconds ahead of Italy’s Davide Negroni. Germany’s Jakob Elias Moch was 38 seconds 7 seconds behind just ahead of Norway’s Filip Skari and Italy’s Gabriele Matli and Federico Pozzi.

In the French clan, Gaspard Cottaz from Dauphiné took a fine eighth place, around twenty seconds from the medal. Romain Vaxelaire was fifteenth. It was a more difficult day, however, for Simon Clavel, sixty-first, and Quentin Viguier, sixty-fifth.
