Cross-country skiing: the strongest Germans
Early on Saturday afternoon, the final stage of the cross-country skiing world cup season was held in Lahti, Finland. After the qualifying rounds at the end of the morning, the final stages of the skate team sprint took place just a few minutes later. It was Germany’s Laura Gimmler and Coletta Rydzek who came out on top.

In a very tactical and compact race, the Germans ran a perfect race, always well placed. In the final lap, Coletta Rydzek proved to be the strongest, as she had done in the skate sprint contested yesterday. Taking the lead on the last bump of the circuit, she swung into the lead before unleashing all her power on the final straight.

Behind them, the Swedish team of Johanna Hagstroem and Maja Dahlqvist took second place. The podium was rounded off by Switzerland’s Anja Weber and Nadine Faehndrich.

Julie Pierrel and Mélissa Gal rode a solid race, staying in contact with the leading group throughout. In the final pack, Mélissa Gal took eleventh place.
