This Friday saw the last skate sprint of the cross-country skiing world cup season in Lahti (Finland). It was the women who opened the hostilities with the qualifications.
Held in bright sunshine, Italy’s Federica Cassol set the fastest time. The 24-year-old cross-country skier finished ahead of Finland’s Jasmi Joensuu – winner of the small globe in the speciality – and Sweden’s Johanna Hagstroem.

In the French camp, France Pignot put in another very good performance, clocking twenty-first in her second World Cup start. Léna Quintin will also be taking part in the finals. She took twenty-third place.
However, Mélissa Gal and Julie Pierrel stopped there. They were thirty-fourth and thirty-fifth respectively.
