Cross-country skiing: “I’m pretty sure it’s over now”, says Therese Johaug
Therese Johaug won the 50km classic in Lahti (Finland) on Sunday to close the cross-country skiing world cup. The Norwegian declared that she was 99% sure of putting her skis away after the race, a position she still holds without confirming her 100% retirement.

It was incredible to be able to finish with a win, even more so in the 50km, I had to tick that off my list,” she told Viaplay at the finish. It was really fun. I’m pretty sure it’s over now, even though I still think it was a lot of fun. It’s been a fantastic career and I’m proud to show that it’s possible to come back after two years and a pregnancy.”
The reason for this doubt is none other than her husband, Nils Jakob Hoff, as she reveals. The Norwegian is expected to make a final decision in the coming weeks.
“My husband tells me that I shouldn’t make a final decision before Easter. He probably wants to put off having another child. He probably doesn’t want an angry, pregnant Therese at home”, she joked toExpressen.

Her performance in the 50km race showed that she is still in great shape and that she can perform well in the coming Olympic year.
“It was a bit like seeing Thérèse in her glory days. She started quite early and controlled the race. If this is her last race, I have to say she finished in style. But maybe that also gives us something to look forward to when it comes to the Olympics,” commented Fredrik Aukland , consultant on NRK.
