Cross-country skiing : Edvin Anger superpowers in Les Rousses
With the Jason Lamy-Chappuis Tuffes stadium on fire on Saturday for the classic style sprints in the cross-country skiing World Cup in Les Rousses (Jura), Lucas Chanavat was no match for the power of Sweden’s Edvin Anger.

The Frenchman was ideally placed in the quarters and then the semi-finals, but was unable to join the battle in the final. In a final round where everything quickly came to a head, the cross-country skier from Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) found himself trapped.
Sixth on the line, the Frenchman nevertheless reassured us that he was in good physical shape after falling ill in the middle of the Tour de Ski. He also took the opportunity to find his feet in the classics. At the front, Edvin Anger quickly put everyone in agreement.

Already impressive over the festive period, the Swede has reached a new milestone in his young career. At the age of 22, he scored his first World Cup victory in a real coup de force. The Scandinavian is gradually establishing himself as one of the big names on the circuit.

Behind him, Ansgar Evensen took a fine podium finish, just one year after claiming his first top 3 on the Oberhof (Germany) track. On the line, the Norwegian beat his compatriot Erik Valnes , who was hoping for better in the absence of the ogre Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo.
Jules Chappaz back on track
For the Blues, Jules Chappaz has got his legs back. Disappointed by his start to the season, the Haut-Savoyard returned to competition this Saturday after five weeks without putting on a single bib. Eliminated in the semi-finals despite a crazy final straight, Le Cluse has reassured himself.

Also third in his quarter-final, Renaud Jay sent out more than positive signals. In great difficulty since the start of the season and in search of a result, the cross-country skier from Les Menuires (Savoie) finished in a good fourteenth place. Just ahead of him, Richard Jouve finally finished thirteenth after a frustrating race.

At the start of his very first finals after brilliantly securing his ticket to this stage, Savoyard Ivan Essonnier was eliminated in the first round of the day. Even so, the young man is gaining valuable experience from his first start in the top flight.
