Cross-country skiing: the World Cup in Les Rousses is approaching
From 17 to 19 January, the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup will take place in Les Rousses (Jura). Two years after a magnificent first edition, the Jura resort will once again experience the big thrill under the organisation of Jura Ski Event.
For the occasion, it was decided to make adjustments to the competition pistes. “The legendary slope, which is almost 20% steep, has been remodelled and will now be accessible to supporters, said Nicolas Michaud, director of the organising committee, at a press briefing on Tuesday. A new route for the [distance] races on Friday and Sunday has also been implemented to encourage a long straight before the finish, allowing spectators to have a view of 90% of the track!”
In all, some 240 cross-country skiers from 26 countries are expected in Les Rousses in just over a month’s time. Among them will be an ambitious French contingent : “After Richard Jouve and Delphine Claudel’s podium finishes in 2023, this World Cup in France is very close to our hearts. It’s a weekend that’s going to count for a lot and we’re going to put a lot of effort into it. It remains one of our major objectives for the season”, explains Renaud Jay.
Finally, the organisers are expecting 12,000 spectators to attend the event over the weekend.
