Cross-country skiing: Margot Tirloy and Quentin Lespine crowned French sprint skate champions
At the French cross-country skiing championships in Les Saisies (Savoie) on Friday afternoon, the final stages of the U20 and senior sprints were on the programme. First up in the U20s was Montblanc’s Margot Tirloy. Dominant throughout the winter on the FESA Cup circuit, she logically dominated the day.
After winning the qualifying round in the morning, she outclassed all her rivals in the tournament. In the final, she easily beat Romane Nappey and Marguerite Couval to become French U20 sprint skateboard champion.
“This title is a reward for the results I achieved during the season and summer training. I gave it my all and it also shows that I’m in good shape even at the end of winter,” she told Nordic Magazine afterwards. It’s important to show that I’m consistent. It’s great to go international, but it’s also good to show that there’s a high level of competition in France.

On the men’s side, the Mont-Blanc committee also dominated, with Quentin Lespine making the difference at the end of the loop in the final. In a blaze of fire, he won the gold medal ahead of Johan Calandry and Simon Clavel. It was a magnificent hat-trick for the Montblancers.
“I had a complicated season with an illness that arrived at the beginning of October and lasted until mid-February. I found it hard to do what I wanted and get back into the game,” he reveals. In this race, I wasn’t at my best, but I managed to do what I knew how to do in the final, which is great!
