Cross-country skiing: Zoé Bray wins on home soil, Alex Laroche gives Auvergne a title
A few hours after the qualifying round at the start of the morning, the final stages of the U16 skate sprints for the 2025 French cross-country skiing championships took place in Les Saisies (Savoie).
Over a selective course, the 1992 Olympic Stadium put on a great show. On the women’s side, the title went to Zoé Bray, who became French champion for the first time at home. After a tremendous finish, she managed to beat Louna Remillon and favourite Lison Brouart to the line.

A title at home is so cool,” she went on to tell Nordic Magazine. What’s more, I knew the slopes and skiing them in competition was so cool. Basically, I do biathlon and cross-country skiing for fun, so I didn’t really believe in the title.

The men’s gold medal went to Alex Laroche from Auvergne. His rival Gaby Thomas crashed out during the final, but he won ahead of Mattéo Vandel and Joss Levet.

“This title means a lot to me because I’ve had a complicated season with difficult preparation. Winning here is really pleasing and means I can finish on a high note,” he explained. I’ve managed to dethrone the people I wanted to dethrone, so that’s great!
