Cross-country skiing: a top 10 finish to end his weekend in Germany for Gaspard Rousset
It was the men in the senior category who brought the third FESA Cup cross-country skiing weekend of the winter to a close. On Sunday afternoon, the cross-country skiers battled it out on the slopes of Oberwiesenthal (Germany) in a classic 20-kilometre mass-start.
At the front of the race, the battle for victory was fierce. Stronger than his rivals in the final moments of the race, Giandomenico Salvadori did not hesitate to claim a prestigious victory. In difficult conditions, the Italian won ahead of Germany’s Thomas Bing and Lucas Boegl.
For the Blues, Gaspard Rousset managed to break into the top 10. The Savvoyard was in contact with his rivals, but gradually lost ground. However, that didn’t stop him from limiting the damage and, by hanging in there, the Féclazien managed to climb to ninth place.

Nearly 40 seconds behind him, his compatriot and friend Julien Arnaud came twelfth. In nineteenth place was Les Menuires (Savoie) cross-country skier Victor Cullet Calderini. Dauphinois Victor Lovera crossed the line in twenty-eighth place, Mathieu Blanc in thirty-second and Milhan Laissus in forty-sixth. Finally, Ivan Essonnier, a brilliant winner on Saturday, had a more difficult day after finishing fifty-eighth.
