Cross-country skiing: no final for Les Bleues in the classic sprint in Oberwiesenthal
On home soil, Germany’s Verena Veit won the classic sprint at the FESA Cup cross-country skiing event in Oberwiesenthal (Germany) on Saturday lunchtime. After finishing fourth in the morning qualifying round, she handled the final stages perfectly. Winning all three runs, she went on to win the final ahead of her compatriot Theresa Fuerstenberg and Poland’s Monika Skinder.
The French, on the other hand, did not fare so well in these finals, with Dauphinoise Justine Gaillard, who was eliminated in the semi-finals, being the best of them.
Earlier in the tournament, Juliette Ducordeau, Clémence Didierlaurent, Léonie Besson, who had finished second in the qualifying round, and Liv Coupat were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
