Cross-country skiing: another idea for Petter Northug Jr
Petter Northug Jr is hard to keep up with. Between his Ski Classics team sponsored by Burger King with the aim of shining on the Vasaloppet, his desire to take part in the sprint team at the Worlds in Trondheim (Norway) with Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo and his job as a consultant for TV2, he has no time to get bored.
But the Mosvik Express has more than one card up its sleeve, and this Tuesday evening it revealed a new one on the ‘B-laget’ podcast. Jokingly, Petter Northug Jr announced that Liechtenstein is the country with which he has the best chance of participating in the Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.

“Are you seriously thinking about it?” asked Marius Skjelbæk, one of the programme hosts. The Norwegian replied in the affirmative, as he had done when asked if he was currently in the process of applying for citizenship of the Alpine principality. He goes on to say that the fact that Ilya Chernousov is the coach of the local national team “is perhaps a possibility” for him to go to the next Olympic Games.
“Liechtenstein is at the centre of everything if you want to train, it’s close to all the important places,” he explains, adding that he has a 20% chance of achieving his goal. “It would be great to have another Olympic Games, but it has to be in 2026. 2030 will be too late,” he concludes.
