Just moments after Gaby Thomas’ fine podium finish in the U16 individual skate event at the FESA Cross-Country Skiing Games in Planica (Slovenia), it was the turn of the U18 female cross-country skiers to take to the track over a 7.5-kilometre course.

The French women put in a fine performance in this competition. While Germany’s Anna Endress, Italy’s Vanessa Cagnati and Germany’s Sina Titscher shared the day’s top three places, the French women all finished in the top 11.

The best of them all was Gaëtane Breniaux. An excellent fifth, the Jurassienne beat her compatriots Anouchka Neuville, seventh, Lucile Coutaz, tenth, and Pom’ Rives, eleventh.
