Cross-country skiing: another FESA Cup U20 success for Margot Tirloy
Montblanc’s Margot Tirloy has been unstoppable this season in the U20 cross-country skiing FESA Cup. Already winner of seven races this winter and battling it out with Italy’s Beatrice Laurent for the overall title, this Friday she had the perfect day in the free sprint at the finals in Prémanon (Jura).
She set the fastest time in the qualifying heats and followed that up in the finals, easily qualifying for the final six-rider battle. In the final round, she proved to be superior to the competition, winning by nearly 2 seconds over Austrian Heidi Bucher. Her rival Beatrice Laurent completed the podium ahead of Czech Lucie Tumova, Ariane Pignot from Haut-Savoie and Germany’s Anne Buchmann.
Earlier in the tournament, Romane Nappey, Annette Coupat and Daphné Patois were eliminated at the semi-final stage.
Lee Lou Cartier Michaud, Coline Schmitt, Pom’ Rives, Lison Comas De Miranda, Agathe Margreither, Marguerite Couval, Anouchka Neuville, Chloé Missillier, Gaëtane Breniaux and Thaïs Gleyzolle were knocked out in the quarter-finals.
