Second and final day of competition this Sunday at the Finnish cross-country skiing cup organised in Ruka ( Finland). After a classic sprint on Saturday morning, won by Jasmi Joensuu and Lauri Vuorinen, the country’s best cross-country skiers competed this time in a 20-kilometre mass-start skate.

And it was the women who kicked off the hostilities mid-morning. The race was a close one, with the cross-country skiers battling it out for victory in a breathless final sprint. And the strongest at this game was Vilma Nissinen, who won by just one second ahead of the experienced Anne Kyllönen. Their compatriot Anni Alakoski completed the podium.
The men’s race also lived up to its promise, with a thrilling finale. Here too, it all came down to the final metres of the race, when Joni Mäki got the better of his pursuers. Stronger than Lauri Lepistö and Juuso Haarala in the sprint, the Finn offers himself a solid success the day after his podium finish in the classic sprint.
