Cross-country skiing : “I really enjoyed myself today”, says Delphine Claudel
After a season cut short by a right foot injury, Delphine Claudelreturned to the World Cup this weekend in Ruka (Finland). After struggling in the opening individual classic (forty-sixth), the Vosgian put in a solid performance on Sunday, taking thirteenth place in the mass-start skate.
“It was cool. I really enjoyed myself today. It was very reassuring. I think that on Friday, it hurt my self-confidence a bit. But today, it all changed,” said Delphine Claudel with a smile for the French cross-country skiing team.

The cross-country skier could even have done better if she’d negotiated the very fast start of the race better: “I think I made a little mistake in my positioning at the start, so I may have missed out on the leading group. But I was in really good form today and I enjoyed myself. That only bodes well for the rest of the race. Now I’m really into the season and that’s great.
All eyes are now on the next two weeks of competition, in Trondheim (Norway) and Davos (Switzerland): “We’ve got two more weekends of racing with some really nice events, so let’s focus on that.
