Just a few minutes after the women’s qualifying round, in which France’s Margot Tirloy, Annette Coupat, Daphné Patois and Anouchka Neuville made it through to the final stages of the classic sprint at the Junior World Cross-Country Skiing Championships in Schilpario (Italy), it was the turn of the young men to take to the track.

In this first heat, it was Filip Skari who took the lead. The Norwegian didn’t hesitate to take the lead ahead of his compatriot Lars Heggen. Behind the Scandinavian duo, Sweden’s Erik Bergstroem made it into the top 3, a few tenths ahead of Switzerland’s Isai Naeff.

In the French camp, three riders took the start of this qualifying round at the end of the morning. However, only Quentin Viguier from Cluse managed to secure his ticket for the quarter-finals. Twenty-third, the Haut-Savoyard will unfortunately not be joined by Simon Clavel, forty-sixth, and Gaspard Cottaz, forty-seventh.
