Cross-country skiing: Lars Heggen was the strongest
At midday on Wednesday, the men’s 20km classic mass-start of the world junior cross-country skiing championships took place in Schilpario (Italy). Under sunny skies and in perfect conditions, a group of around twenty riders formed the leading group at the halfway stage of the race.

Among them was Romain Vaxelaire from the Vosges. However, the Frenchman was unable to keep up with the pace in the final kilometres and finished eleventh at the finish line. A fine performance for the Bressaud in the face of stiff international competition. Up front, it was Norway who triumphed with Lars Heggen’s solo win ahead of Italy’s Gabriele Matli and his compatriot Leopold Strand.

Germany’s Jakob Elias Moch and Norway’s Filip Skari, who won the classic sprint on Monday, entered the top 5 ahead of Davide Negroni, Marco Pinzani, Ralf Kivil, Federico Pozzi and Pyry Riissanen.

Quentin Viguier, the other Frenchman entered, was thirty-fifth.
