Cross-country skiing: Maerta Rosenberg was a cut above the rest
On Tuesday, during the women’s classic sprint at the U23 cross-country skiing world championships in Schilpario (Italy), there was Maerta Rosenberg and the others. After dominating the qualifying round, the Swede confirmed her superiority in thehead-to-head competition.

First in her quarter-final and then in her semi-final, the 22-year-old Scandinavian won the grand final by more than 5 seconds from twenty-nine World Cup starts. Under the Italian sun, she became the U23 world champion in the classic sprint, succeeding Sonjaa Schmidt, Jasmin Kähärä, Moa Hansson, Lisa Lohmann, Emma Ribom and Moa Lundgren.

On today’s podium, she is joined by Andorra’s Gina Del Rio and her compatriot Elin Henriksson. Norway’s Anniken Sand and Maria Hartz Melling and Italy’s Nadine Laurent follow in the rankings.

It was a complicated competition for the French girls, with Clémence Didierlaurent, Léonie Besson, Justine Gaillard and Julie Pierrel being knocked out in the quarter-finals.
