Cross-country skiing: four out of four French women in the quarter-finals of the classic sprint at the U23 World Championships
This Tuesday morning, the U23 cross-country skiing world championships kick off in Schilpario (Italy) with the classic sprint qualifiers. In the women’s race, which kicked off at 10.00 am, Sweden’s Maerta Rosenberg dominated the heat. With a time of 3 min 0 sec 43, she beat Finland’s Nora Kytäjä by 7 sec 49 and Italy’s Iris De Martin Pinter by 8 sec 21.

As for the French, all four entries made the cut. Bornand’s Julie Pierrel was seventeenth at 13 sec 02, Méaudra’s Justine Gaillard nineteenth at 13 sec 59, Haut-Alpine Léonie Besson twenty-first at 14 sec 27 and Vosgienne Clémence Didierlaurent thirtieth and last qualifier at 18 sec 62.

Some of the top names to have qualified include Nadine Laurent, Elin Henriksson, Helen Hoffmann, Ingrid Bergene Aabrekk, Gina Del Rio, Maria Hartz Melling, Sydney Palmer-Leger, Evelina Crüsell and Sonjaa Schmidt.
