Cross-country skiing : Julie Pierrel second again in Italy
After the individual skate race in the under-twenties category , which went to France’s Margot Tirloy, who won for the second time this weekend, the same 10-kilometre event also proved a success for the senior women cross-country skiers. On this final stage of the FESA Cup cross-country skiing event in Schlinig (Italy), a Frenchwoman was on the podium.

Second in the individual classic on Saturday, Julie Pierrel did it again on Sunday after a race in which she finished less than ten seconds from winning. Only beaten by Italy’s Maria Gismondi, the skier from Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) also put a fine finishing touch to her first international weekend of the winter.

Behind her, Switzerland’s Marina Kaelin took third place, while two other French cross-country skiers also made it into the day’s top 10. In fifth place was Léonie Perry from Vosges, who finished just under 30 seconds behind the leader. Liv Coupat from Forézienne finished in ninth place.
Doubiste Cloé Pagnier settled for eleventh place in the event, just three tenths off the tenth position held by Germany’s Germana Thannheimer. Clémence Didierlaurent was sixteenth, Justine Gaillard twenty-second, Léonie Besson twenty-fourth and Julie Marciniak rounded off the French ranking in twenty-eighth place.
