Cross-country skiing : Sabin Coupat and Martino Carollo share victory
Sabin Coupat has his revenge. Beaten by three Italians on Friday in the opening skate sprint of the 2024/2025 edition of the FESA Cup in cross-country skiing, the Frenchman this time crossed the finish line in first place in the individual classic run on the 10-kilometre track in Schlinig, Italy.

The Forézien member of the French team’s Collectif B was always on the pace through the intermediates on the Transalpine course, finishing strongly to take first place on the day. However, the 21-year-old cross-country skier wasn ‘t the only one to win on Saturday. Italian Martino Carollo, who finished in the same time as him, also climbed to the top of the podium alongside the Frenchman.

Switzerland’s Jonas Baumann rounded off the day’s top 3, just over two seconds ahead of Haut-Savoyard Clément Parisse, back in international competition after contracting mononucleosis early last winter.
Behind him, the French team put together a fine grouping in the day’s top 10. Haut-Alpin Julien Arnaud took sixth place, just ahead of his compatriot and friend Gaspard Rousset, seventh in this first distance event of the weekend. Dauphinois Victor Lovera confirmed the fine form he showed in Bessans (Savoie) last weekend by taking tenth place.

As for the other French competitors, Arnaud Chautemps climbed into the top 20 by finishing nineteenth, while Victor Cullet Calderini crossed the line in twenty-second place, Mattéo Correia in twenty-fourth, Ivan Essonnier in twenty-seventh and Simon Chappaz rounded off the French ranking in sixty-ninth place.
