Cross-country skiing : Margot Tirloy crushes the individual skate race
Margot Tirloy couldn’t have dreamt of anything better. First on the podium of the inaugural skate sprint of the first stage of the FESA Cup cross-country skiing season, the Haut-Savoyard then simply won the two U20 individual events contested on Saturday and Sunday in classic and skate in Schlinig (Italy).

Quite simply untouchable on Sunday as she rounded off her weekend in Italy, La Cluse left no room for her rivals in the day’s race. Crossing the finish line victorious and with a margin of more than 35 seconds over her most serious rival of the weekend, Italy’s Beatrice Laurent, the 19-year-old impressed.

In fine form at the start of the winter season, particularly at the French Cup held in Bessans (Savoie) last weekend, she confirmed once again that she will be a force to be reckoned with at international level in the U20 category. On the podium, the Frenchwoman was accompanied by one of her compatriots.
Agathe Magreither, who was also on the pace in this final event, took her turn on the podium after sometimes circling around it during the three days of competition. A fine performance which was also enhanced by the overall result of the French team.

Behind her, Annette Coupat scored a fine top-five finish in fifth place, just ahead of her team-mate Ariane Pignot. Not far behind this duo was Romane Nappey, eighth in this individual event and finishing on a high note this first weekend of the international season. Finally, Daphné Patois from Savoie rounded off the French rankings in fourteenth place.
