On a demanding, reworked course, the Frenchman controlled the race perfectly. Long part of a large lead group, Simon Vuillet made his decisive attack on the approach to Dobbiaco before taking solo victory, 25 seconds clear of his pursuers. Behind him, the sprint for second place went to Italy’s Mattia Armellini ahead of his compatriot Giacomo Ponti.
“It was my first time here and I was really looking forward to discovering this region. Winning on my first appearance is something very special. And it’s also excellent preparation for the rest of the Ski Classics season,” said Simon Vuillet at the finish.
