The second stage of Lapponia Ski Week took place on Wednesday in Vuontisjärvi (Finland). In the men’s race, a quartet – made up of Finns Lauri Vuorinen, Markus Vuorela, Miro Karppanen and Remi Lindholm – quickly broke away at the front of the race.
After 50 kilometres, victory was decided in a sprint. Lauri Vuorinen– bronze medallist in the sprint skate at the Trondheim World Championships (Norway) – was the winner. In the final sprint, he beat his compatriots Markus Vuorela and Miro Karppanen.

In the women’s race, Anne Kyllönen went it alone. She won solo after more than 2 hours 3 minutes of effort. She beat former biathlete Kaisa Mäkäräinen – who won the first stage on Monday – by more than two minutes. The podium was completed by Eveliina Toivanen, more than nine minutes behind the winner.
