For the cross-country skiers in the Ski Classics, it was back to school on Saturday morning in Austria with the Bad Gastein ITT. The best pupil in this 7km time trial was former sprinter Amund Hoel. The Team Engcon skier won, edging out his team-mate Ole Joergen Bruvoll by just over 4 seconds. Third place went to Amund Riege from Team Ramudden.

The best French performance of the day went to Simon Vuillet of the i3 Ski Team. The Jurassien came 24th, 36 seconds from winning. The young man finished ahead of his compatriots Jérémy Royer of Team Eksjöhus, 31st, and Thomas Joly of Team Ramudden, 34th.

In the rest of the French clan, Bastien Laurent from Team Nordic Expérience Coste – Fromageries Marcel Petite took forty-eighth place, his team-mate Mattis Basille fifty-fourth, Nathan Jouannon fifty-eighth, Boris Berglez seventy-second and Savoyard Pierre Belingheri seventy-third.
Ulrik Emil Eriksen lost both his skis and had to run to the finish. The jury disqualified the Norwegian.
