Cross-country skiing: Montblanc women take gold at Les Saisies
On Saturday morning, Montblanc’s Anouchka Neuville, Margot Tirloy and Mélissa Gal won the women’s cross-country skiing committee relay at the French Championships in Les Saisies (Savoie). The Haut-Savoyard women won the title after leading the race from start to finish.

Right from the start,Anouchka Neuville took pole position and set the pace. “It’s always the race you look forward to at the end of the season, and I was obviously keen to put in a good performance with my friends. I really enjoyed it. I think I was lucky to have good skis that gripped well. I’ve still got some juice left at the end of the season, so it was a great race,” she told Nordic Magazine.
She then set Margot Tirloy off perfectly and she continued to extend her lead to 30 seconds. “I was feeling great. Anouchka [Neuville, editor’s note] had given me a good lead, so all I had to do was increase or maintain my gap to Mélissa [Gal, editor’s note]. I really wanted to win this relay and retain our title. It’s always a pleasure, especially with my friends.

In perfect position, it was up to Mélissa Gal to finish off the job on her own. “All in all, the work was done by the girls. I’m really happy to share this with the girls and the committee. I’m really proud to be the best committee again this year.
