Jessie Diggins spoke out on her Instagram account tomark Mental Health Month, which is being celebrated this May. Mental health has always been a particularly important issue for the two-time winner of the last Big Crystal Globe. She has never hidden her eating disorders, which have often led her into complicated situations.
“May is mental health month, it’s something very close to my heart and very important to me,” Jessie Diggins explains in a video posted on Instagram. ” I’ve always been very open about the fact that, throughout my career, I’ve struggled with eating disorders and mental health issues. It was really important to talk about it, so people know that it’s okay to ask for help if you feel you need it.”
She stresses the importance of sharing her concerns, but also gives advice and encourages her subscribers to enjoy the benefits of nature and outdoor activities.
“One of the most important tools for relaxing, reconnecting and strengthening myself has simply been to get outside. Sometimes you just have to get outside, feel the sun on your face, touch the grass and take a moment to listen to the birds singing, to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. So this May, take the time to slow down. Go and touch the grass, read a book in a hammock, lie in the sun. Be kind to yourself and take the time to get out and about as you please.“
