Cross-country skiing : the eagerly-awaited Tour de Ski returns this Saturday
This Saturday, the cross-country skiing world cup resumes in Toblach, Italy, after a ten-day break. And it’s not at just any event that the world’s best cross-country skiers will be meeting up for new confrontations. The traditional Tour de Ski is making a comeback over the festive period.

And this year, the organisers have come up with something new, as the nineteenth edition of this competition will be held exclusively in Italy, with events split between Toblach and Val di Fiemme. On the programme this Saturday, a skate sprint will be followed by a classic 15-kilometre mass-start on Sunday before a first rest day.
On 31 December, for New Year’s Eve, the athletes will be on deck with a 20-kilometre individual skate race that will precede a 15-kilometre classic pursuit organised on New Year’s Day.

Then, on 2 January, the whole caravan will head to Val di Fiemme for a classic sprint on the 3rd and a 20-kilometre skiathlon. Finally, the hostilities will come to a close with the legendary Alpe Cermis climb, where Frenchman Jules Lapierre claimed his first victory on the circuit last year.
