Cross-country skiing: a top 10 finish in Norway for Jules Lapierre at the end of the winter season
This Saturday, the elite of Norwegian cross-country skiing met up on the Skarverennet for the last competitive event of the 2024/2025 season. This year’s 29km skate race was held between Finse (Norway) and Jægertoppen (Norway) and featured a duel between Astrid Oeyre Slind and Therese Johaug, who has already won this popular race eleven times.
But there was no duel as Astrid Oeyre Slind already had a large lead after 10km. At the finish, she took victory by a margin of 2 min 36 sec 3 over Therese Johaug, while Helene Marie Fossesholm was third at nearly 5 minutes, just ahead of Hedda Bakkemo, Tuva Toftdahl Staver, Marte Mikkelsplass and Emilie Fleten.

On the men’s side, it was Simen Hegstad Krueger who won this 2025 edition of the Skarverennet. Also a solo winner, he got the better of a group of four men, who fought it out for the other podium places by more than a minute. Great Britain’s Andrew Musgrave came second ahead of Kasper Andersson Herland, Gaute Kvaale and Martin Kirkeberg Moerk.
The top 10 is then completed by Martin Loewstroem Nyenget, Sivert Wiig, Chartrousin Jules Lapierre, Harald Oestberg Amundsen and Espen Aakervik. Further back, biathlete Simon Kirkeeide was twelfth, Yan Belorgey thirteenth, Paal Golberg fifteenth, Filip Fjeld Andersen thirty-first, Sturla Holm Lægreid thirty-third, Sjur Roethe thirty-fifth and Lars Berger thirty-sixth.
